Preparations for 2010

Although we at first thought to have no new wargame for 2010 (well, for Crisis 2010), we decided yesterday to prepare a fictitious 1760 wargame situated on the coast of India. So my beloved 15mm 7 Years war French will (with some new units of course) battle now against a combined/Indian host.
This means painting some dozens of white clad and bare Indians plus some elephants.
Information
about the scenario will follow.

Question, where to find the extra's as bystanders, washerwoman, children running around etc etc in 15mil.
We are glad with any information for figures to use.

Crisis antwerp

Crisis is every year the highlight of our wargame year. Friendly, busy, warm (very warm, not to say hot), good trade stands and a lot of people who each year visit this show and almost becomes a wargame family reunion. Very well organised by the Tin Soldiers of Antwerp (TSOA) , it a great show.
We had our new 1809 Tyrolean revolt in 15mm with us of which we are showing some pictures.

A SELWG weekend

As said earlier, we went to SELWG for a weekend to present our medieval (clash of Dukes) demo on behalf of the Lance and Longbow Society. Crossing at Calais we visited Dover Castle on saterday. A great site, well preserved and the guided underground tour was great.

Sunday morning we went to SELWG and after mastering the trafic que for unloading, we set up our game behind the L&S stand.
Some photo's of our demo:

SELWG

As we have a Medieval demo together with the Lance and Longbow society at London SELWG in two weeks, we have painted the last figures and made all the preparations which are necessary. Hopefully the British customs do not have us unpack every box we will be carrying to London to search illegal import.

Dutch National Heritage Day 2009

We presented four castle/siege themes on the Dutch National Heritage Day at Venlo on September 12th; our wargames demo with castle Ter Horst of 1368, the siege of Haarlem in 1572, the attack on Oudeschans in 1600 and the siege of a Vauban fortress of the Seven Years War period.

A lot of interested people visited the Heritage day and the spectacles presented by the late medieval reenactment Group "Gelres Overkwartier" and the "Santa Fe"group with their very good WW2 rolling stock. Our wargame presentations were also visited by many interested people of all kinds. As can be seen above, the reenactment Group Gelres Overkwartier was very interested in the model of the castle Ter Horst, which is situated very nearby their headquarters.
Also can be seen the "Blue Hussars" in their late 19th century uniforms who once were quartered in the "Frederik Hendrik"barracks in Venlo

Demo Crisis show Antwerp November

For the "Crisis" show in Antwerp in November we are now preparing a demo about the 1809 Tyrolean revolt against the Bavarians. The demo will be in 15mm scale and we will use the Shako II rules. On the moment we are painting frantically all those needed insurgents in "lederhosen".

As information is scarce, we are looking for more information about this struggle and when we find something usefull we will present it on our website. Already we have put various pictures about the dress that people were wearing and pictures of Andreas Hofer on the site.

First tryout

To be honest, I have no idea how to begin the blog.
It was just that I was reading some blogs of other people because I could't sleeep after picking up my youngest son from the Düsseldorf airport after a diving vacation in Egypt.

So I thought, why shouldn't the Alde Garde have a blog. We have a website (http://www.aldegarde.nl/) so you are welcome there to see what we do about our hobby and the information we are gathering about the periods we wargame. But this blog will, at least I think, be more about the various things that are happening on this moment.
I think that Peter, the other member of the Alde Garde, will add his thoughts too.
