Salute 2016

Salute 2016 is behind us as are the 1.000km we drove from the South-Eastern part of the Netherlands via a short train trip(Calais-Folkestone) to Excel London (and back of course; the same day).
It must be the 10th time we were at Salute although not all were at Excel.

As every year it was different to the former year; we noticed more fantasy traders, more space as the sitting space was removed and almost no themed (Steampunk) games -or we have missed them.

Happily there were the games we like; big historical games with great painted figures and terrain. Foremost, the game presented by Bill Gaskin and friends was the premier example of this kind of games but there were others, even some fantasy ones which took our attention.

As each year we tour the hall (traders and games together) but next year  I suyppose we first concentrate on the games, after that meet some old buddies and after that visit the traders we like (and there are a lot we don't care about).

Of course, a big compliment and thank you to the organisers for the show.

And now, pictures are due, so here we go

Impact 2016

Impact, the wargames show of the the Hired Guns club from Uden, Netherlans was held last Sunday april 3rd.
We took our 1507 Guelders demo but as we had renewed our terrainplates it had a very different outlook then previous.
Some pictures are underneath.

Of course compliments to the whole club for organising this show and I think all participants enjoyed the day and we hope this will be the start of a string of shows in the years to come. As Alde Garde we will be there next year.

Jan was interviewed by the regional Brabant television. Although the nice lady wandered around with the big camera for some three hours, only 4 minutes was broadcasted.

Alas, the broadcast is in Dutch.

Impact 2016

On april 3rd 2016 the wargames club "Hired Guns" will organise their anual show "Impact" at Eindhoven, Netherlands.
As this is a new venue we are very anxious to be there on the 3rd.

Hope to see you there. We bring our 1507 demogame.

Warcon Gent

Warcon28 is gone.
A new venue which, although for some hard to find, has great potential for the future.
Better communication about Warcon beforehand would be advisable to get more people inside but at least a lot of clubs show up and had a great time.
So did we.
We had our 1692 demo with us,underneath some picture of our demo. Of course, more will be on our website soon.

Hope to see you all at Warcon29 next year and big thanks to all the members of the organising club "Thunderbolts" from Gent. They did a great job.

Warcon 28 Gent

We will be at Warcon (the wargames show in Gent organised by the Thunderbolt and the Red Barons clubs) with our 1690 demo in 28mm. As ever, using the BLB rules.
A new venue so more rooms.
The new venue is: Hallen Merelbeke, Kloosterstraat 26, Merelbeke; in fact a suburb of the ciry of Gent.
So high expectations about the new venue.

We hope to see you there!

It was enjoyable at Crisis 2015 to discuss the BLB rules with author Barry Hilton.
We had upgraded our 9 Years War Game with several new units, especially cavalry, to play a rearguard attack scenario with much cavalry involved.
This created however some situations, originating from the 'all or nothing charge', which we thought were not easy to tackle from the BLB rules.

I've now started painting up a Bavarian Cuissassier Brigade. It served the French army up to 1692, when it changed sides to the Grand Alliance. Although hardly seeing service in Flanders, the Bavarians may flourish the cavalry of the Dutch/Spanish forces.

I'm looking for the right standards now to complete my first units.

Crisis 2015

Well, Crisis 2015 is gone already.
A very nice show again, It is every year a joy to see a lot of people you know, talk to them about wargaming, rules, figures, olans etc etc.
Crisis was imho wel organised (parking was a problem, but that was not the fault of TSoa) so a big thanks to all the memebers of TSoA who made this show possible; it is a lot of work each year.

Some pictures of the show underneath. of other clubs and their presentations. Sorry but we haven't their names. Exept of course he first two as these are Barry Hiltons'presentations and we used BlB for our game at Crisis with our 1960 demo.

Some pictures of our Nine Years War demo using, as said, the BLB rules and 25mm.
