Open monumentsday at the Dutch Artillery Museum

Again a year past and a new open monumentsday at the Artillerymuseum is near.

On the 13th of september we, again, will put on a 28mm wargames demo at the museum. This year it will be the siege of Venlo 1511, a theme we also did earlier this year but of course witth some additional figures, some more terrain features etc. We will be using Pike & Shotte again as rules.

Hope to see you there.

Information about the museum, you can find at: www.nederlandsartilleriemuseum.nl

Also look at pictures taken in earlier years on this grat location (look under heading of "museum")

The program on this day is underneath (sadly only in Dutch). And of course, admittance is free on that day.

And by the way, the museum has its 75th birthday this year!

Modelling and wargames show Geel

As said earlier, we participated in the Modelling and wargames show at Geel. Of course the modelling part was a lot (really a lot!) bigger then the part of wargamers but it was a nice day.

A lot of modellers with their family walked around, being surpised that people really play with miniatures and most of them had started with plastic (Airfix) miniatures but then went into modelling.

We had nice discussions about wargamig, modelling and history so, as said, a nice day.

Pictures of our presented wargame (The Siege of Venlo 1511) are underneath. As it is the same period as the more wellknown Italian Wars but situated in the east part of todays Netherlands, it shows of cousre more or less the same miniatures (except Italians/Spanish etc)!

We had little time to go around the modelling part of the show, so were sorry to have only a few pictures of the models portrayed. Suffice to say, a lot of them were just great. When you are a modeller and in the neighbourhood, go there next year, it a great show (and it is free!).

Scaleworld 2025 in Geel Belgium

For those with no plans on June 1st and in the neigbourhood, KMK Geel will held their annual Scale World modelling event. It is a great event.
AND, for the second time, also Wargames will be shown.

The Alde Garde will be there with a revamped Siege of Venlo demo in 28mm. Peter is  very (very!) busy to change the layout of the walls (well, partly of course) of Venlo as can be seen on the fotos underneath which show the work in proces.

We hope to see (and speak to) you about out hobby.

Crisis 2018

As you know, the Alde Garde always tries to be at Crisis as it is a great, friendly show. Meeting other wargamers and talk to them about the hobby, seeing all those great games and trying to find new ideas for our own games.

And then of course, the friendly atmosphere and the perfect organisation, what better could a wargames wish.

This year it was a little bit different for us as we had made a demo game but we were not playing. That part was taken out of our hands by our friends of the Gentlemen Pensioners who came over for a weekend Antwerp and of course playing our demo.

On the left from front to back; Will, Peter and John. On the right Steve and David.
Neils head can be seen in the background while manning the stand of the Lance and Longbow  Society while Dave and Lynne cannot be seen as they are manning their bookstore.

Pictures of the game situated in the Eastern part of the Netherlands and in the year 1511, it portrayed a "what if" scenario of the Guelders Wars.

But of course, there were a lot of other demo's and participation games at Crisis and boy, they were very good.. For the most part our pictures don't do them justice but here we go.
And please, keep in mind that we just had little time to tour the two halls and take pictures . There were a lot of great games around but we just hadn't time to take pictures,
