Crisis 2024. A short report.

Thanks to the cooperation of the HQ and TSoA Clubs, Crisis was resurrected; not in Antwerp but now in a new venue at Sint Niklaas and it must be said, a great day it was.

It was nice to see again all those faces of well known wargamers but also new faces and as far as we know all had a great time. Of course it is a pity that due to British politics, British traders were missing but a lot of traders from mainland Europe were present.

There was of course one trader (although without its wel known trade) Barry Hilton who presented two 17th century games in one and received a well deserved a Best of Show trophy (left picture underneath ). Petra and Peter from Murphys Heroes got the prize for most innovative game (right picture).

We presented for the first time a game situated in the beginnings of the 80Years War with Pikemans Lament rules and 28mm miniatures (mostly by Tag). Some pictures underneath but it must be said that sometimes the sun peeking through orange painted windows gives a strange effect.

Of course we quickly took pictures of some other games at Crisis (sorry, didn't get the names of the clubs). As we didn't have time to takes pictures of all other games, please go to Chaosbunker.de for more pictures.

:It was a great show, so thanks for the organizing clubs HQ and TSoA and hopefully see you next year!

Thanks for providing a show report for this years Crisis show, but do you not think its time to drop the Brexit comments? There's enough problems in the world today, without the need to keep dredging up British-EU politics that effect a continental European wargames show, surely? Most of us have moved on and are making the best of things.

Steve, thanks

Roy, thanks for your reaction. But; there were 3 major differences to the "old" Crisis show which disappeared for some years. First, there are now 2 instead of 1 organising club, the venue/location is different and British traders totally disappeared (thanks to something which according to you need not be mentioned but had a major effect on Crisis old style). That's all I said.
Be sure, we moved on but seeing your reaction; have you?

Some great looking games, our group always said we'd make it over to Crisis one day, now its back up and running, it may be time for that visit next year.
Barry does make a good looking game!

Your game did look excellent guys! Thanks!
I think the guy(s) on the other side of the Northsea don't know how hard or expensive it is nowaday to get hold of some of the great miniatures that are produced in the UK. Think around +50% cost of metal figures from catalogue price!

Make that up to 103% in some instances.
Anyway the good news is there will be a next edition of Crisis in 2025, although we're ( "we" as in HQ Gaming Club joined with TSA) are trying to get back to our old time- frame of late October: Early November. This year was an exception due to a double booking from the venue holder.
And yes, it will by necessity be a more European themed event than before 2021.
But.. again the good news is that more and more extremely prolific EU manufacturers are popping up. Nature abhors a vacuum remember?
We"ll definitely try to get more and more of these to the event.
That's a promise!

Lastly, a sincere word of thanks to any club, and especially those presenting outstanding games and displays like Alde Garde, that made the revamped Crisis a success. Without you guys it just wouldn't be possible.

Wim, thanks and indeed figure price +postage+customs handling fee is sometimes killing. But the quality of todays figures is so outstanding that we still more buy then we can paint!. I sincerely hope that my wife doesn't read this!

Willie, we really hope that in 2025 Crisis is on (and in november) and to both clubs: keep up the good work. We know how many effort organisers have to put into the show preperations and on the day itself and I think most of the clubs that are participating know and appreciate that. We (as participants) can just repay that by trying to present a nice game (at least we try!).
